Welcome back everybody, for an evening of football under the lights here at Turf Moor. Tonight, we welcome Hull City as we continue our Championship campaign.
We arrive on the back of Friday’s narrow defeat to Watford. Despite the result, there were many positives to take from the performance, especially in the second half where we came close to equalising.
We faced tough opponents on the night, however the energy and positivity this group of players is showing, under Vincent and his team’s guidance is very promising. We have back-to-back home games now and I’m looking forward to seeing the team continue to grow here on home turf, this evening and on Saturday against Blackpool.
I also want to make special mention of the travelling Clarets who made the trip to Vicarage Road. You were all in fine voice on the night and that support does not go unnoticed.
I’ve spoken openly in interviews recently about the importance of charity and the Club supporting worthwhile causes. As a football club, we have an awareness of using the power of our badge and brand, for good. In addition to our support of Burnley FC in the Community, we were pleased to get you, the fans involved in helping us to select our charity partners for the season. The two charities who received the most votes were Andy’s Man Club and the Veterans’ Foundation. Both are fantastic causes, and we are looking forward to helping to raise vital funds and awareness of the incredible work they are carrying out.
In good news, I’m delighted to see our innovative partnership with TikTok has been shortlisted in the Sponsorship category at this year’s Leaders in Sport Awards. The awards ceremony celebrates companies and individuals driving change and making a real difference in the sports industry across the last 12 months and we have been recognised for our work with TikTok around our women’s team.
All Burnley FC Women home games are streamed live on the app, we welcomed the social media platform as a women’s sleeve sponsor and together we collaborate on content to help raise the profile of the squad. It has been such a positive partnership and I’m pleased to see the hard work recognised in this way.
The season is in full swing here at the Club, with our Academy U21s and U18s getting their campaign’s underway, while the women’s team start their season this coming weekend. I want to take this opportunity to wish all the squads the best of luck for their campaigns.
As always, thank you for your support, Clarets fans. Let’s get behind Vincent and the players tonight and enjoy the game!
Up the Clarets!
Alan
