Burnley Women will aim to take three valuable league points when they face their Stoke City counterparts on Sunday afternoon.
The team are in a rich vein of form, culminating in a fifth straight league victory against Halifax on Wednesday night.
After Gracie Prior scored her first Burnley goal before the break, substitute Laura Elford was on target once again to earn a dramatic victory in second-half stoppage time.
Those five wins have seen Burnley score 20 goals and with just three league games remaining, Rebecca Sawiuk’s team are keen to finish as high up the Northern Premier Division of the Women’s National League as possible.
Their tally of 45 points is one more than 3rd-placed Nottingham Forest have accrued, with an exciting end to the season in store.
Stoke City can be found slightly down the standings in 6th, having taken 25 points from 18 outings.
They’ve drawn their last two games one all and were held by Liverpool Feds last time out, with Saffron Jordan on target for them on Merseyside.
This game has been postponed by the Potters multiple times this season, but the reverse fixture was able to take place at the County Ground in Leyland towards the end of March.
Burnley trailed for a long time the day after Heidi Logan opened the scoring, but substitute Rhema Lord-Mears scored a long-ranger to equalise.
The Clarets were saved by Elford’s late heroics yet again as she glanced a header into the bottom left corner in stoppage time at the end of the 90 to secure all three points.
Kick-off at Emerys Stadium (ST6 1QF) is 2pm and supporters are more than welcome to attend. Entry on the turnstiles is £3 for adults and £1 for juniors.
