Burnley FC Women will feel a sense of déjà vu this Sunday, 6th November, when they return to the Jericho Lane Sports Hub to take on Liverpool Feds Women (2pm KO).
With this game coming in the Northern Premier Division of the FA Women’s National League, Jonathan Morgan’s side played the same opposition at the same venue at the same time last Sunday, 30th October.
With Evie Priestley & Millie Ravening finding the back of the net in the first half, Aimee Kelly then came off the bench shortly after the hour-mark to net a second-half hat-trick, sealing a comfortable win & progression into the Second Round Proper of the FA Women’s National League Cup courtesy of a 5-1 success.
Kelly, who joined the Claret Women in the summer from Women's Super League outfit Everton, also netted in the Determining Round of the same competition against Hull City Ladies back in September.
The draw for the next round of the League Cup is still to be made, and the Club will communicate the outcome of the same as soon as possible via our various social media channels.
This Sunday is Burnley’s last scheduled game in the league until 18th December, when they return home to the County Ground in Leyland against Loughborough Lightning Women.
Following the Feds game, the Claret Women’s schedule currently looks as follows over the next few weeks:
· 13th November – Tranmere Rovers (A – Ellesmere Port Sports Village - Women’s FA Cup First Round Proper, 2PM)
· 20th November – AFC Fylde (A – County Ground, Leyland – Lancashire FA Women’s Challenge Cup, 2PM)
· 4th December – FA Women’s National League Cup Second Round Proper (Draw TBA)
· 18th December – Loughborough Lightning (H – County Ground, Leyland – Northern Premier Division of the FA Women’s National League, 2PM)
Focus remains on this weekend's game against Feds though, with Morgan’s side – who are still unbeaten in all competitions so far this term - going in search of a first league win in four after three consecutive draws.
The Claret Women have taken one point in their last three league outings against Brighouse Town Women, Nottingham Forest Women & West Bromwich Albion Women respectively.
This weekend, they face Leanne Duffy's Feds side who have made a promising start to life in the third-tier having been promoted last season, sat 8th with nine points from their opening eight league games at the time of writing.
Four of those points for the Merseyside outfit have been picked up across their last two games in the league, drawing 2-2 against AFC Fylde Women before beating Boldmere St Michaels Women – who are also newly-promoted - 2-1 away from home.
Striker Katie Thomas, pictured below, was on target against Boldmere, and she – along with defender Megan Dykes – made the move to Feds earlier this season following their departures from the Claret Women.
Entry at the Jericho Lane Sports Hub (L17 5AL) will cost £5 for Adults and £3 for Concessions. U16s are able to attend the game for free.
