For the second weekend running, Burnley FC Women recorded a big win on the road against Liverpool Feds with this success seeing midfielder Millie Ravening net a hat-trick as the side recorded a first league victory in four.
Seven days prior, Jonathan Morgan’s side had put Feds to the sword in the FA Women’s National League Cup with a 5-1 margin of success.
And this time around at the Jericho Lane Sports Hub, Lizzie Hamer, Leah Embley & Sarah Greenhalgh were all on target as well as Ravening, and the rout was rounded off with an own goal from Chelsey Jukes.
Boss Morgan made three changes to his side from their trip to Merseyside last week with striker Aimee Kelly’s second-half hat-trick last time out earning her a starting spot.

Dom Cooper & captain Lauren Bracewell also returned from the off, with Sarah Greenhalgh & Lucy Farrell named as substitutes alongside defender Sammy Fleck, involved in a matchday squad for the first time this season.
Northern Ireland U19 international Mia Little made the bench for the hosts after signing for the Feds 24 hours prior.
First Half
The Claret Women flew out of the blocks, and carved out a first chance within the opening minute when Ravening was played in down the right-hand side before crossing low to forward Evie Priestley, who could only turn an effort narrowly wide.
Only four minutes later, Ravening then gave the Claret Women the lead that their early pressure deserved with a scorching free-kick from 25 yards out which cannoned in off the underside of the bar.
Midfielder’s appetite for goals stronger than ever following treble on Merseyside
The hosts tried to work their way back into the game and were close to levelling when midfielder Paige Cole found space in the box to fizz a low ball across the area of Lauren Bracewell, but no one was able to turn it home.
Morgan’s side then came back at the Feds as another ball down the right to Ravening resulted in her cross being flicked on by Priestley and Hamer was on hand at the back post, however her low effort was saved well by the feet of Feds shot stopper Rachel Darbyshire.
Burnley continued to press, and eventually found the second of the afternoon through Ravening from the penalty spot after Aimee Kelly had been felled in the area on 22 minutes.
The midfielder, who has been in free-scoring form throughout the season so far, was agonisingly close to completing her hat-trick when she weaved her way through numerous challenges on the edge of the area before hammering an effort towards goal which Darbyshire dealt with by punching away.
And after that, it would be a quiet end to the half as a low cross from Ravening, that was palmed away well by Darbyshire, was the only real chance for either side as the Claret Women went into the break with a two-goal advantage.
Second Half
Burnley again started well come the restart and extended their lead to three just three minutes into the second half as Lucia Molinari sent a low cross into the area and when Feds failed to clear, Hamer picked up the ball to slot home into the bottom corner.
Another chance swiftly followed through Ravening as Ellie York picked up on a loose throw from Darbyshire to cross, but the 21-year-old fired just wide.
Hamer again tested Darbyshire with a curling effort from the edge of the area while Bracewell was called into action for the first time at the other end moments later as ex-Claret Katie Thomas found herself in behind, but the captain denied the forward one-on-one to keep her clean sheet intact.
Just before the hour-mark, Burnley would add to their lead and Ravening would have her hat-trick as substitute Leah Embley found space on the right and crossed into the middle of the box for her to head home the Clarets fourth.
A super Sunday continued to get better soon after as Embley herself made it five with a clinical finish having been slotted in by Hamer, and on 68 minutes centre back Fleck made her return to action off the bench as she replaced Lucy Walsh in defence.
Morgan’s side weren’t done there, and were pushing for a sixth which came courtesy of some more good work from the influential Embley. Impressive after coming on, her dangerous cross was sliced into the back of the net by Jukes.
And Embley was involved yet again as Burnley made it seven. She crossed to the back post once more to find fellow substitute Sarah Greenhalgh who grabbed her first goal of the season with a diving header.
This impressive victory is the Claret Women’s biggest of the campaign to date and extends their unbeaten run to 10 games in the Northern Premier Division of the FA Women’s National League, still yet to taste defeat under Morgan’s stewardship.
They are back in action next Sunday – 13th November – in Women’s FA Cup First Round action against Tranmere Rovers Women at Ellesmere Port Sports Village when kick-off is scheduled for 1pm (GMT).
