Burnley Women hit the road in search of three Northern Premier Division of the Women’s National League points on Sunday, with Halifax the opponents.

The Clarets have made a near perfect start to their league campaign, claiming 13 points from a possible 15.

Three of those points came via last weekend’s 3-0 victory over Hull City, which was the team’s first league outing in three weeks.

There were no signs of rust, though, as Yana Daniëls opened the scoring from a set piece after just eight minutes.

An own goal doubled Burnley’s lead before Charley Docherty netted her first league goal of the campaign to secure all three points.

Lou Roberts’ side are currently 2nd in the 12-team table, three points behind Wolverhampton Wanderers who have played a game more.

Halifax are competing at the other end of the table and find themselves 11th with four points from six matches.

The Yorkshire outfit earned a respectable point at Loughborough Lightning last weekend, with Ferne Powell giving the home team the lead.

Halifax fought back though, and after Bonnie Davies restored parity, her team battled until the very end to make sure of the result.

Manager Rob Mitchell is one of the longest serving in the division, having taken the reins in 2013. The UEFA B License coach also plays a key role in the running of the club.

Players to look out for include captain Phoebe Hollin, who came through the youth system at Manchester United, and Everton academy graduate Macy Settle.

Burnley did the double over Halifax last season, winning both matches 7-0.

Our last encounter was in April 2025, when Laura Elford and Georgia Marshall’s braces were accompanied by further strikes from Heidi Logan, Brenna McPartlan, and Aimee Kelly.

Kick-off at the Myra Shay stadium in Bradford (BD3 8QX) on Sunday is 3pm, and supporters are welcome to get behind the team in person.

Tickets are available from the turnstiles on the day and are priced at £5 for adults. Every paying adult can claim one free U16s ticket, while further U16s tickets will be £2 each. Cash and card payments are accepted.
