Burnley Women are preparing for a midweek clash against Halifax on Wednesday night, when they could extend their winning run to five.
Having originally been scheduled for Thursday, the match was brought forwards 24 hours at Halifax’s request because of venue availability.
Rebecca Sawiuk’s team are playing well and building a strong run of results, the latest of which being Sunday’s 3-1 win over Huddersfield Town at the Anchor Ground in Darwen.
Goals from Thea Paul, Monique Robinson and Laura Elford were enough to ease the Clarets past the Terriers, who netted through Beth Ibbotson.
Burnley are 2nd in the Northern Premier Division of the Women’s National League, 10 points off leaders Newcastle United but with a game in hand on the Magpies.
Importantly, Sawiuk’s team are a point better off than 3rd-placed Nottingham Forest, with both teams having taken to the field the same number of times.
Halifax are a team competing towards the other end of the table, currently sitting 9th in the 12-team standings.
They’ve played just 16 matches to date and have 18 points, meaning staying in the league is in their own hands.
Rob Mitchell’s team come into this one on the back of a 5-1 defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers but, prior to that, they had recorded draws with Stoke City and Huddersfield Town.
The Yorkshire side could field former Claret Courtney Willis, who scored in the Club’s inaugural Turf Moor fixture against Liverpool Feds last year.
Aimee Kelly scored either side of halftime as Burnley recorded a 2-0 victory in the reverse fixture at the County Ground in Leyland earlier this season.
Kick-off at the West Riding County FA (LS26 8NX) is 7.45pm on Wednesday 9th April and entry is just £6 for adults and £4 for concessions.
