A Burnley U21s side featuring two trialists and several players aged 18 and under were beaten 4-1 by Ipswich Town on Tuesday afternoon.
The Tractorboys took a three-goal lead in the first quarter of the game at their Suffolk base before Tom Tweedy reduced the arrears for the Clarets.
Youngster Noah Adekoya was sent off just three minutes into the second half and Ipswich made their man advantage pay to score again and see out the victory.
Andy Farrell’s starting XI was captained by 17-year-old centre-back Murray Campbell for the second game running, with Charlie Casper returning in goal and Basilio Socoliche coming in on the left of midfield.

Ipswich led following a quick counter attack on eight minutes, with Jesse Nwabueze ultimately finishing from a Leon Ayinde cross.
Two goals in three minutes than gave the Clarets a mountain to climb, with Steven Turner and Osman Foyo both netting from close range.
Tweedy then created an opportunity for himself with quality pressing to dispossess a defender and the Welshman picked out the bottom right corner to make it 3-1.
Ipswich finished the first half strongly, however, forcing Farrell to make three changes at the interval with Vernon Masara, Tommy McDermott and Benji Wetshi all coming on.

The team’s task was made even harder, however, when Adekoya was dismissed for what the referee deemed to be a dangerous tackle in the 48th minute.
Casper made a couple of strong saves, including one low to his right, before Nwabueze scored his second of the afternoon on the hour.
Burnley kept their shape and limited the hosts to very few openings for the remainder of the game, with Masara coming closest to a second Clarets goal in stoppage time.
It wasn’t to be, however, and the team stay 6th in the Professional Development League North table with 35 points from 23 matches.
Next up is another game at Turf Moor, with Charlton Athletic visiting for a 1pm kick-off on Sunday 14th April.
