Burnley’s Women’s team has earned nominations in two distinct categories at this year's Women’s Football Awards (WFAs).
Lola Ogunbote, the Club’s Head of Women’s Football, has been recognized as a finalist for the 'Off the Pitch' award in acknowledgment of her dedication to empowering women and girls through sports.
Additionally, the team’s innovative collaboration with TikTok has secured a nomination for the 'Best Social Media Campaign' accolade.
Ogunbote has played a pivotal role in driving forward the Club’s Women’s team infrastructure, operations, recruitment, and execution of its long-term strategy since assuming leadership in August 2021.
Beyond her contributions to the Clarets, Ogunbote is also cited on the WFAs website as the Executive Director of Goals for Girls, a US-based non-profit organization that unites girls through football to lead community change.
The winner of the Off the Pitch award will be determined by a panel of judges, with Ogunbote competing against individuals from other clubs, governing bodies, and partner organizations.
Burnley’s relationship with entertainment platform TikTok started in 2021 and since then, the two brands have struck a strategic partnership with the aim of engaging fans in the world of women’s football.
All the Club’s home Northern Premier Division of the Women’s National League matches are streamed live on the platform, with other behind the scenes content also being created.
Other initiatives that have been shortlisted include campaigns from the FA and FIFA, in addition to a variety of major brands from around the world.
