Burnley Women are aiming to record a third straight victory in all competitions when they travel to face Derby County on Sunday afternoon.
The Clarets will be buoyed by last week’s emphatic 9-0 victory over Stourbridge, a result that earned three valuable Northern Premier Division of the Women’s National League points.
Rhema Lord-Mears’ fantastic effort from range opened the scoring early on and it was 3-0 with less than half an hour on the clock thanks to Claudia Walker and Amelia Hazard.
A fourth goal came from Tilly Wilkes before the interval and Rebecca Sawiuk’s side stepped on the accelerator in the second half, adding five more on a comfortable afternoon.
Four of those came from substitutes as Anna Grey’s brace was followed by Aimee Kelly and Laura Elford, before Brenna McPartlan put the cherry on top with a late penalty.
As it stands the Clarets are 3rd in the table with 28 points from 11 matches, with 2nd-placed Nottingham Forest having 32 points from one match more.
Derby are currently 7th in the 11-team table, with their 14 points coming from four wins and two draws.
The Ewes played their first competitive fixture of 2025 last weekend but couldn’t get the desired result, losing 4-0 to league leaders Wolverhampton Wanderers.
All four goals came in the first half at the SEAH Stadium, with Amber Hughes opening the scoring before Charlotte Greengrass doubled Wolves’ lead.
Further goals came from Anna Morphet and Jade Cross, but Sam Griffiths’ side did well to not concede further in the second half.
The Clarets came out on top when these two teams met earlier this season, winning 2-0 at the County Ground, Leyland in October.
McPartlan looped a header over Derby ‘keeper Lucy Jones and Hazard swept the ball into the bottom left corner on a day that saw Sawiuk’s side stretch their winning run to four matches.
