Burnley FC Women return to action in the Northern Premier Division of the FA Women’s National League on Sunday afternoon (September 18), taking on Boldmere St Michaels Women away from home.
Jonathan Morgan’s side saw their scheduled cup game away at Hull City Ladies postponed last weekend following the news of HRH Queen Elizabeth II’s sad passing.
As such, this Sunday’s game in the Midlands will be a first in a fortnight, drawing 3-3 with Huddersfield Town Women last time out at the LFA County Ground in Leyland.
Midfielder Millie Ravening was on target twice against the Terriers, with Leah Embley also netting her first goal since returning to the Club this summer.
The two points dropped in the draw the first this season for the Claret Women, they now sit 2nd on 10 points from their opening four.
Since that game, Burnley have bolstered their ranks with the addition of full-back Jessica Simpson from Manchester United Women’s Academy on dual registration terms.
17-year-old Simpson, who is also an England youth international, becomes the fourth signing of the season from United on the same terms after Emma Taylor, Ella Kinzett & Alyssa Aherne (all pictured below).

Simpson will be in contention for selection for the trip to the Midlands for what will be a first-ever meeting between the Clarets & Boldmere at any level.
Promoted last season having won the FA Women’s National League Division 1 Midlands, the Mikes have had a tough start to life in the third tier, losing all three of their league games so far this term.
Beaten 7-1 by Huddersfield at home in the opening game of the campaign, Simon Noakes’ side then fell to a narrow 2-1 defeat when they came up against West Bromwich Albion Women.
And most recently, on the road for the first time this campaign, Boldmere were well beaten by Derby County Women, losing out 6-1 having conceded four unanswered goals in the second half.
Noakes’ side sit 11th on the ladder ahead of Sunday’s game, with just they and bottom-placed Loughborough Lightning Women still searching for their first points.
We will provide coverage of the game from the Trevor Brown Memorial Ground - which gets underway at 14:00 - via Twitter.
If any supporters would like to make the trip themselves, the postcode is B73 5RY. Entry will cost £5 for Adults & £3 for Concessions.
