Burnley Football Club are pleased to confirm the signing of Jesse Williams from Oldham Athletic for an undisclosed fee.
The defender joins Andy Farrell’s U21s squad following a successful trial period and has agreed a contract that runs until the summer of 2027.
“I’m very happy to be here at this great club and am grateful for the opportunity,” he said.
“Having spent time on trial I can tell the environment is good and all the players, coaches and staff have a good bond. All the lads have been great with me and made me feel very welcome.
“I like to try and be calm and composed on the ball, step out of the defence and play it when possible.”
Williams was born in Almere in the Netherlands and moved to England as a youngster, initially playing for Enfield Town in London before joining Oldham at U11s level.
The 18-year-old has progressed right the way through the Latics’ academy, signing scholarship terms and playing regularly for their U18s as captain last season.
A centre-back by trade, Williams played in Burnley U21s’ 3-1 victory over Bristol City at Ashton Gate earlier this month.
He is available for selection in the U21s’ next fixture, which is against Crewe Alexandra on Tuesday 24th September. Kick-off at the County Ground, Leyland is 7pm.
