Our overseas supporters’ groups are all over the world cheering us on, and Where in the World gives you the chance to get to know them.
First up is the New Zealand Clarets - group member Tom Greenwood tells us all about life as a Claret from across the globe.

How was your group formed and how long have you been in existence?
We formed in early 2020 and had our first national get-together in the March for the Burnley v Spurs game (1-1) at Turf Moor. There were a few connections between Clarets in New Zealand, and so a few of the guys decided to grab it by the scruff of the neck and form a proper supporters club. It's been a fantastic journey connecting people with their roots in East Lancashire as well as making lots of new friends along the way.
Where does your group meet?
As we are spread out across New Zealand in both the North and South Islands, we tend to rotate meetups between the big centres of Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch for our national get-togethers. These happen two or three times a year. We also have more informal get-togethers in our domestic centres throughout the rest of the year.

How do you watch the game?
The games are on in the middle of the night in New Zealand, and so it's generally a case of setting the alarm and getting up (or just staying up in some cases) to watch the Clarets in action. The group chat on WhatsApp is always lively at these times, and a few of the members are always together watching the games. For our national meet ups, we've generally watched the games on delay in the morning, (avoiding the score overnight), which allows our younger supporters to be involved. We are very much a family club; everyone is welcome.
What’s an interesting fact about the New Zealand Clarets?
Chris Wood's parents, Grant and Julie, are members of the club and were at our get together for the England v Scotland game in the Euros. In a sliding doors moment, we went to a pub, which was run by two Italian brothers from Tuscany who were both Clarets supporters. A video of them and their Clarets mad family at home in their Tuscan Village can be found on YouTube.
