We will proudly welcome teams from across the globe to Gawthorpe Hall this weekend for our Clarets Academy International Cup.
Sixteen teams from eight different countries will participate in a 9v9 tournament, starting on Saturday 28th May, and finishing on Monday 30th May.
The U13/12 competition has attracted worldwide attention, with teams such as Manchester United, Chelsea, AC Sparta Prague, St Pauli, Lech Poznan, Manchester City and Glasgow Rangers all entering alongside the Clarets.
The teams will be split into two groups, and each will play eight 50-minute games across the three days, before the two group winners will face off in the final on Monday 30th May, 3.30pm kick-off.
Club partners AiSCOUT will officially sponsor the Clarets Academy International Cup and they will have their highly acclaimed Elite Performance Lab at Burnley Football Club’s training ground throughout the tournament.
Away from the pitch, there will be a selection of catering vans on site including Papa John’s Pizza and Coffee Ninja, as well as a family fun zone with a number of games for all ages to participate in.
Entry and parking for the tournament is free of charge, with parking available at Shuttleworth College on Padiham Road (BB12 8ST). The Club will run a shuttle bus from the College to the training ground on a frequent basis on all three days, but please note, there will be no parking on site at the training ground.
We will be also running an eSports FIFA tournament alongside the competition, with one player from each team representing their club. The FIFA tournament's format will be a double elimination knockout, with this taking in the Media Centre bungalow at the training ground.
Paul Jenkins, Burnley FC Academy Director, said: “It is a great privilege for us to host the Clarets Academy International Cup at the end of May and welcome teams from all across the World to our training ground.
"We will witness hundreds of great young players take part in the tournament, and it will provide a fantastic platform for them to showcase their abilities over the course of the three days.
"The tournament is another example of our Club building strong relationships with fellow academies, not only in this country, but across the World as we continue to grow.
"We hope to see as many people as possible in attendance and we are looking forward to welcoming everyone to Gawthorpe Hall."
Darren Peries, AiSCOUT CEO, said: “We’re very proud to be sponsoring the Clarets Academy International Cup and to see so many fantastic teams participating. It’s an exciting time for AiSCOUT, as we’ve chosen the tournament to showcase our first product created to analyse professional and academy players.
“Our Elite Performance Lab will be at the event offering clubs and their academy players an opportunity to experience our state-of-the-art player analysis technology. There will also be opportunities for spectators to try out the Lab for themselves.
“During the event, there’s also a chance for spectators to be scouted by Burnley FC.
“AiSCOUT staff, a selection of Burnley FC scouts, women’s first team and academy players, will be on hand to assist any player that wants to come down and enter Burnley trials for the women’s 1st team (age 16+) or the academy (age 8-21). Just bring your phone or parents phone, boots or trainers, or something to run in, for a chance to get scouted.”
