Midfielder reflects on 2023/24 Premier League campaign

Josh Cullen believes the Premier League 'is the hardest place to learn' but explains that him and the team can take the positives and lessons learnt from this season into the next.

The Clarets' campaign came to a close on Sunday afternoon with a narrow defeat to Nottingham Forest at Turf Moor, but Cullen insists the team are 'hungry' to bounce back following relegation to the Championship.

Speaking post-match on Sunday, the Ireland international said: "The Premier League is the hardest place to learn and we’ve come up from the Championship having had a really good season and stepped up to a new level, which believe me, is a totally new level and we’ve learnt a lot.

"Although we’ve come up short this season in achieving our goals and staying up, I think we are a better team for it, for this learning and we need to take that into next season with us.

"It’s time to take the positives from this season and learn from what we need to do and hopefully going back to the Championship next season with that in mind of getting back to the Premier League. We are hungry to come back and stay at this level and get this club back to where it belongs.”

Cullen added: "I think the spirit we showed last season to get promoted and then this season, although it’s been tough times for majority of the season with the results, we’ve obviously had to take it on the head.
