JULY
With Burnley preparing for life back in the Premier League, many of the Club’s U21s group were involved in the first team’s early pre-season games and getting on the scoresheet.
Jez Davies and Michael Mellon scored against Fleetwood Town, before Basilio Socoliche netted against Burton Albion and Joe Westley found the net against Port Vale.
Before heading to St Andrews in Scotland for a pre-season camp, the U21s beat Leeds United 3-0 at Burnley Training Centre.
While north of the border, Andy Farrell’s side beat Hibernian’s B team 5-1 and lost 5-3 to Rangers U21s.
July also saw Mellon join League Two side Morecambe on loan for the season.

AUGUST
Pre-season continued with a narrow defeat to seventh-tier side Ashton United before more players departed for loan experiences.
Centre-back Benn Ward linked up with Swindon Town in League Two, while Dara Costelloe joined partner club Dundee in Scotland’s top tier and Jack Turner moved to Hyde United.
Pre-season ended with a 5-2 win over Salford, with Lewis Richardson scoring a brace.
It was then time for the real thing, with the Professional Development League season starting away at Millwall before a home draw with Cardiff City.

SEPTEMBER
There were two deadline day loan departures, with Marcel Lewis moving to Dundee and Owen Dodgson joining League One side Barnsley.
Farrell’s side played six times in September, starting with comprehensive victories over Colchester United and Queens Park Rangers in the League.
The young Clarets then got their Premier League Cup campaign off to the perfect start, beating Leicester City 4-3 with Westley netting a brace.
The month ended with two league games – a 1-0 victory over Wigan Athletic and a one all draw with Fleetwood Town.

OCTOBER
October was a month for cup football, starting with a 3-3 draw with Brentford in Premier League Cup Group B.
There was also a 2-0 victory over Blackburn Rovers in the Central League Cup, first-teamer Darko Churlinov and U21s skipper Will Hugill finding the net.
Sandwiched between those fixtures was a league defeat at Peterborough United where Westley was on target again.
NOVEMBER
It’s fair to say that November was a mixed month results wise. After Churlinov earned a 1-0 league victory over Sheffield United, Burnley suffered a heavy defeat at Fulham in the Premier League Cup.
It was then a league trip to Birmingham City before the Clarets recorded an impressive 3-1 victory over Liverpool in the Lancashire FA Senior Cup.
Han-Noah Massengo opened the scoring for Burnley but the Reds hit back quickly through Lewis Koumas. Farrell’s side weren’t to be deterred, though, with Massengo netting again before Westley secured the victory just after the hour.

DECEMBER
The last calendar month of the year was less relentless fixture wise, consisting of just two cup games.
Leicester City scored twice in four minutes to earn three Premier League Cup points at the County Ground in Leyland.
Preston North End then visited the Burnley Training Centre and were beaten 4-0 as the Clarets continued their perfect start to the Central League Cup campaign.
