Posh visit Lancashire in Professional Development League

Following the postponement of last week’s trip to Crewe Alexandra, Burnley U21s are raring to get going again when Peterborough United visit Lancashire on Tuesday afternoon.

The young Clarets have played just one game in 2025 so far, losing 1-0 to Sheffield United at the County Ground in Leyland.

Harry Boyes’ direct free-kick after just two minutes was the difference between the two teams that night in what was a top of the table clash.

Before that game Andy Farrell’s side were unbeaten in four, winning three of those outings and scoring 15 goals in the process.

As such, Burnley will be keen to get back to winning ways come the end of the 90 minutes on Tuesday.

Led by Ryan Semple, Peterborough fell to a 2-1 defeat against Swansea City in their first competitive game of 2025 last Friday.

Kyrell Wilson and Thomas Woodyard gave the Swans a two-goal lead at Posh’s training ground, before Eddie Fox’s late strike proved to be just a consolation.

The Blues are 5th in the North section standings with 21 points from their 14 matches to date and are yet to draw a league game, recording seven wins and the same number of losses.

Burnley came out on top when these two teams met at Posh’s Idverde Training Ground earlier this season, eventually winning 5-2 in an entertaining clash.

The hosts took the lead on a brisk October afternoon through David Kamara, who picked out the bottom left corner in the 12th minute.

However, two Burnley goals in three minutes turned the game on its head around the half hour. The first came through Tom Tweedy, before Joe Westley placed a free-kick into the top left corner.

Further goals came from Joe Bevan, Benn Ward and Kamarni Ryan on what was a productive afternoon for Farrell’s side.

Kick-off at Burnley Training Centre is 1pm, and supporters can watch the fixture for free.
