Club enhance commitment to tackling sexism & championing women in sport

Burnley Football Club are delighted to announce a new relationship with Her Game Too.

Founded in 2021 by female football fans, the vision for Her Game Too is to create a world where football is a sport that everyone can enjoy, regardless of gender.

Since its launch, the organisation has gone from strength to strength in their fight to eradicate sexist abuse and harassment of female fans in football, with many clubs across the football leagues now signing up to show their support.

As One Club for All, Burnley FC champion equality and diversity and aim to ensure that Turf Moor is a welcoming and inclusive environment for everybody. Having joined forces, the Club will work closely with Her Game Too and Ambassador Charlotte Rigby, to gain valuable insight into creating a safe and inclusive environment for female fans, so they feel empowered to engage with the game.

Ann-Marie Bradley, Burnley FC’s Head of HR said: “We are delighted to team up with Her Game Too. We’ve been in discussions for some time now, as inclusivity and female empowerment in sport are areas of vital importance for us as a football club.

“Alongside our commitment and investment in women’s football, we’ve introduced Safeguarding Stewards at our home games to support the safety and wellbeing of all fans and supporters, with a particular focus on the experience of women and girls. We also recently conducted a Female Fan survey, which was sent to female season ticket holders, to gauge their thoughts and experiences of a matchday and find out where we can make improvements.

“I’m excited to collaborate with the fantastic team at Her Game Too and look forward to raising awareness and educating our supporters on the importance of inclusivity and diversity in sport.”

Burnley’s Her Game Too Ambassador Charlotte Rigby is also excited about the two organisations working together and the Clarets work around women and girls.

"As a lifelong Burnley fan, I'm so excited to work alongside Her Game Too, our Club and amazing fans to tackle sexism within sport in order to make Turf Moor an inclusive, safe and welcoming space for everyone to enjoy football.

“It's great to see the initiatives put in place by the Club already, following discussion with the female fan base, and I feel this is a great foundation to build upon when championing women in sport.

“I'm looking forward to everybody getting involved with our dedicated fixture and hope fans will see the good work that the Club and Her Game Too can achieve."

To celebrate the relationship the Club’s fixture against Luton Town at Turf Moor in March 2025 will be dedicated to Her Game Too.
