Burnley Football Club can confirm that Benn Ward has today joined Sky Bet League Two side Accrington Stanley on a permanent basis for an undisclosed fee.
Initially moving north from Hastings United in January 2021, the defender penned his first professional contract with the Clarets in the summer of 2022.
Ward was given his first taste of league football at the start of the 2023/24 season with Swindon Town, but a season-long loan with the Robins ended early because of injury.
The centre-back recovered to become a mainstay in Andy Farrell’s U21s team this season and take on captain’s responsibilities.
He also played a key role in the team lifting the Central League Cup last season, netting the winning goal against Derby County in the final at Pride Park.
With his contract due to expire this summer, the 21-year-old now moves across Lancashire to work under Stanley manager John Doolan.
