Burnley U21s continue their Professional Development League season with the visit of Charlton Athletic on Sunday afternoon.
The young Clarets have claimed two points from their opening three matches, following up draws with Millwall and Ipswich Town with a loss at AFC Bournemouth last time out.
Andy Farrell’s side put in a spirited display on the south coast and, despite leading twice through fantastic strikes from Charlie Veevers and Brandon Ly, were unable to hold on to a result.
The sucker punch came in the 92nd minute when Jonny Day dispatched the ball past goalkeeper Lewis Forshaw with a composed finish at Vitality Stadium.
As such, the U21s are 8th in the 11-team North section table, which is still tightly congested because of the minimal number of games.
Having formally signed for the Clarets earlier this week, João Mendes is available for selection and could make his U21s debut.
Charlton have started their season in style, winning all three games and scoring 14 goals in the process.
They dispatched Hull City 6-0 at The Valley earlier this week, with Ryan Huke, Micah Mbick, Toby Bower, Henry Rylah, Seydil Toure and a trialist all on target.
Managed by Chris Lock, the Addicks have also put four past both Wigan Athletic and Barnsley this campaign.
Unsurprisingly, they’re top of the South section of the division.
Kick-off in Padiham is 1pm and fans are welcome to attend free of charge and show their support.
