Burnley’s U21 side are back in action in the Professional Development League on Monday afternoon – October 3 – away against Wigan Athletic (13:00 KO).
The Clarets take on the Latics at their DW Stadium, where the men’s first team won 5-1 back in August, looking for a first victory in three.
After a defeat at home to Arsenal in the Premier League Cup, Burnley dominated the proceedings away at Crewe Alexandra’s Reaseheath Training Ground last Monday but couldn’t make it count and earned a point from a goalless draw.
Various players were missing through injury and international representation against the Alex, but both Dane McCullough (Northern Ireland U21s) & Dara Costelloe (Republic of Ireland U21s) are now back at the Club and will be in contention for Monday’s game.
Centre back Jack Turner will also be eligible to make his formal debut for the Clarets. Having appeared as a Trialist at Crewe, the towering 18-year-old officially joined the Club on Thursday.

Burnley sit 2nd in the Northern Section heading into it while opponents Wigan sit a place below in 3rd, with nine points – one less than the Clarets having played a game more – from their opening eight league matches of the campaign.
Early on in the season, Frankie Bunn’s young Latics lost four games on the bounce.
They were also beaten 2-0 by league leaders Sheffield United in their previous home game, though responded well and rounded September off with a win by the same scoreline on the road at United’s neighbours Sheffield Wednesday. Youssef Chentouf and Luke Brennan were on target for Wigan against the Owls.
For any Clarets fans who wish to make the trip across the North West for Monday’s game, entry is free with admission only permitted to the West Stand at the DW Stadium, WN5 0UH.
The fixture will be covered in full over on Twitter via @ClaretsAcademy while a report will also be published on burnleyfc.com post-match.
