First Half

Claret striker Rohan Vaughan nearly opened the scoring in the first ten minutes, when he made a low powerful strike from close range but his effort was saved by Jake Spaven's dive.

Lucas Wane tried his luck when Vaughan sent a high cross into the area, he managed to make contact with the ball, however it curled inches wide of the post.

The last attempt of the first half came when Zach Johnson fizzed the ball towards Callum West at the edge of the box, but the intense effort lifted over the crossbar, leaving both teams goalless at the break.

Second Half

A busy second half saw the Clarets on the front foot as Masara opened the scoring five minutes into the half when he received a direct ball from Johnson and took a shot from close range straight through the middle of the goal.

Only one minute later, the goalscorer doubled the lead through his immense pace as he left Harrison Rimmer behind, and calmly chipped the ball over Spaven into the top right corner.

Wigan were awarded a penalty when Olly Pimlott placed heavy contact on Bettioni, the forward took a composed approach and slotted straight into the bottom corner, sending Lewis Forshaw in the wrong direction.

Burnley added their third of the game when Wetshi outstandingly weaved his way into the box and smashed the ball straight through Spaven's legs leaving him no chance.
