Burnley FC Women Manager Rebecca Sawiuk is relishing the opportunity to get the team's league campaign back up and running with this weekend's trip to Wolves.
The last time the two sides met ended in a 1-1 draw and Sawiuk is confident the squad have developed since that encounter, which should put them in good stead on Sunday.
“Everyone’s really excited. We’ve been back together as a full group this week, which is great, trained a lot over Christmas - friendlies, had an opportunity to build and add to our DNA at Burnley. Everyone is just excited to get down to Wolves on Sunday and get the game kicked off.”
The Clarets last played in the league in November in a 3-1 win against West Bromwich Albion and since then have secured a place in the Fourth Round of the Adobe Women's FA Cup with victories over Huddersfield Town, Alnwick Town and Coundon Court Ladies.

"A lot of our focus was taken up on the FA Cup run, of which we were really pleased with the performances that we laid out.
“I know we were up against teams who were in tier 5, but you still have to go out and perform and we got an opportunity to rotate and have a look at players in different roles. Lots of goals, lots of confidence and lots of great performances coming out of that period.
“In terms of the league I’m not interested in what anyone else is doing, I’m just interested in what we’re doing here at Burnley, our habits, standards and our approach in every game.”
Those wins saw lots of goals netted, does this bring Sawiuk increased attacking confidence heading into the game against Daniel McNamara's team?
“We know we get a lot of chances. We enter the opponents box a lot from both sides and centrally, so we’re always going to cause the opponent problems. More recently the last three weeks, we’ve been working on conversion. We’ve been looking at the forwards, their strengths, what do each one of them bring. We’ve certainly looked to strengthen in that area as well, which is exciting.

“I think we’re a team that dominate the ball, dominate possession, we’re very creative and we are very clinical and dangerous in the opponents box.”
Wolves travelled to Burnley in the league last September in a game which saw both sides secure a point, however Sawiuk is keen to lean on the experience the team have gained since then, to tackle this weekend's test.
“I think we did a lot of learning, that was really early on. It might even have possibly been our first home game of the season. We’re a very different Burnley team now than we were for that first game and on that day in moments in that game, I thought we were very good.
“There were a lot of areas coming out of that game as a group we wanted to work on, and we had the opportunity to display some of that in the Forest game and I think we’re just excited to see where we’re at now.”
