Burnley FC U18 fell to defeat against Fleetwood Town at the Barnfield Training Centre in the Professional Development League, with the match ending 2-1.  
The Clarets opened the scoring when they were awarded a penalty in the opening four minutes and Lucas Wane’s shot fired past Cods’ keeper Oliver Bellizia. 
The Cods found the equaliser in the 70th minute when Theo Butterworth slotted the ball into the back of the net past Lewis Forshaw.  
Fleetwood secured the win with Liam Roberts slotting the ball into the back of the net with 10 minutes remaining. 
First Half 
The Clarets took the lead early on as striker Vernon Masara was fouled by a Cods defender and Wane fired the ball past ‘keeper Bellizia from the spot to open the scoring.

Fleetwood battled back into the game as Jack Doherty played the ball into the feet of Crispin McLean who’s shot was held by Forshaw. 
Callum West carried the last chance for Burnley in the first half as he sent the ball down the wing to Masara, who found himself one-on-one with Bellizia, but could only chip his effort over the bar. 
Second Half 
In the second half the game became a tight affair as both teams struggled to find then breakthrough, with the first chance coming just after the half hour mark when Jack Rogers did well to clear Mikey Lane’s flick towards goal off the line. 
Doherty then saw a strike deflected wide, before Theo Butterworth managed to work space and slot in the equaliser from the resulting corner. 
As the game started to open up, full back Ben Jordison found himself in an advanced position, playing a defence-splitting pass through to substitute Adam McCoy, who was denied well by Bellizia.

Fellow substitute Luca Jackson was shown a straight red card soon after, and as the Clarets went down to ten men, Roberts took full advantage to fire home and put the Cods ahead.
Wane sent a low drive towards goal that was spilled by Bellizia but the Fleetwood stopper managed to gather at the second attempt in what was the last chance of the game.
