Manchester United
United are in their second full season under the guidance of Dutch manager Erik Ten Hag, who joined the club in April 2022 from Ajax.
Ten Hag enjoyed a successful first campaign in charge, after lifting the EFL Cup, guiding United to a third-place finish and reaching the FA Cup final in his first season at Old Trafford.
The Reds bolstered their squad in the summer ahead of the 2023/24 season by adding Mason Mount from Chelsea, striker Rasmus Hojlund arriving from Atalanta and midfielder Sofyan Amrabat signing on a season loan deal from Fiorentina.
Goalkeeper Andre Onana joined from Inter Milan to replace David De Gea’s departure, whilst defender Sergio Reguilon arrived on loan from Tottenham and former centre-back Jonny Evans signed a short-term deal after leaving Leicester.
There were several departures from Old Trafford in the summer with goalkeeper Dean Henderson joining Crystal Palace, winger Anthony Elanga signing for Forest, Fred leaving for Fenerbahçe and Alex Telles moving to Al-Nassr.
Form Guide
Burnley take on the visitors after claiming their first point of the season on Monday night at Nottingham Forest.
Zeki Amdouni gave the Clarets the lead in the first half by striking his first Premier League goal of the season before Callum Hudson-Odoi equalised at the City Ground.
Prior to Monday’s 1-1 draw, Kompany’s side had lost their previous three home games to Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa.
United won their opening game of the season against Wolves but followed that up with a 2-0 defeat at Spurs.
Ten Hag’s men responded with a 3-2 victory at Old Trafford against Forest but then three defeats followed that to Arsenal, Brighton and Bayern Munich.
What Vincent Kompany said
"We have played some really good teams so far at home and had a threat & competed in spells but we got punished when we weren’t at our best.
"We've had really solid spells, across 45 minute periods. It's now about continuing that and can we step it up now and get a result against a really good side.
"I feel there is something really exciting building ahead of us and the momentum is building, hopefully we can carry it from Monday into the weekend.
"I really believe in our attacking threat in our team and the mentality within the team is there. We were solid on Monday and the challenge is now United and I want to see what progress has been made."
