Burnley U21s have enjoyed a successful start to the 2024/25 season, with their 24 games throwing up plenty of excitement and goals.

Those fixtures have come in four different competitions and Andy Farrell’s team have recorded 16 victories at a win percentage of 66%.

Their most impressive run saw them win nine games on the bounce between the Premier League Cup visit to Luton Town at the start of October and the 3-1 triumph over Blackburn Rovers in the middle of November.

Our young Clarets have found the back of the net an impressive 73 times, which averages out just over three goals per game.

Joe Westley has found the back of the net more than any of his teammates, notching 15 times despite spending a month on loan at National League side Rochdale.

Summer addition Kamarni Ryan is next up with 10, while Welshman Tom Tweedy has nine to his name.

A total of 18 players have found the back of the net, while the team have scored in all but three of their outings to date.

Farrell’s team’s biggest winning margin to date was the emphatic 8-1 Professional Development League triumph over Birmingham City at the start of December.

Westley was the star that night with a four-goal haul, while Tommy McDermott netted twice, and further strikes came from Charlie Veevers and Joao Mendes.

Impressively, the young Clarets have scored five or more goals on six occasions.

The young Clarets have conceded 26 times in their 24 games, with 21 of those coming in the Professional Development League.

That gives them the second-best defensive record in the league behind leaders Sheffield United.

There have been eight clean sheets spread between five different goalkeepers and, between wins over Brighton in October and Carlisle United in November, Farrell’s side recorded four shutouts in five matches.

Burnley are 3rd in the Professional Development League North section table with 29 points from their 15 matches.

That’s one and four less than Hull City and Sheffield United respectively, with the Blades being our first opponents of the new year on Tuesday 7th January. Goal difference wise, Burnley’s 26 is only bettered by the south Yorkshire side too.

Farrell has used 43 different players and Joe Bauress leads the way with 22 appearances, followed closely by Benn Ward, Brandon Ly and Kamarni Ryan on 21.
