Head Coach Scott Parker admitted it was the perfect away performance from his side against Sheffield United on Boxing Day, as the Clarets claimed all three points and secured another clean sheet at Bramall Lane.

The Clarets took the lead through Josh Brownhill's ninth goal of the 2024/25 campaign, before Zian Flemming then hammered home the second goal of the game in what was an impressive display from the Clarets on the road.

Speaking post-match in Yorkshire, Parker explained: “It probably was the perfect performance away from home for us. It was a real solid, good away performance.

“I spoke about coming to Bramall Lane and facing a very good side on Boxing Day, where we knew there would probably be an extra energy in the stadium. I spoke about trying to take the energy out of the stadium and manage certain situations and we did that very, very well.

“We stood up to the fight, as we knew we would need to. We score at a great moment, there’s no denying that, but it’s a well-worked goal and something we were looking to exploit.

“The second goal comes at a good moment too, but the longer the game went on we looked a real threat with our counter-transitions and we were rock solid at the back, which has been a real key factor for us this season.

“It’s a tough place to come but we came here with the full intention to come away with three points and we’ve managed to do that.”

Brownhill continued his scintillating form in front of goal with his ninth of the season, after heading home the opener and Parker had high praise for his skipper.

“There are not enough words to compliment Browny. He’s a driving force in this team, he’s got brilliant box habits and he’s always in and around the right areas.

“He’s got huge quality and he’s now got nine for the season, so he’s been fundamental for us."

Flemming bagged his third goal of the campaign with his driven strike from the edge of the box and the Clarets boss described his efforts as 'top class'

“It’s another good strike from Zian. It took a deflection but it’s still a great strike from Zian, who I thought was top class.

“When we needed to mix the game up and go a bit more direct, he gave us a real platform.”

The result saw Burnley seal their 14th clean sheet this season, with just nine goals conceded in 23 Championship fixtures and Parker was keen to highlight that everyone has played their part in the impressive defensive record.

“We always reference the clean sheets. The back four and Traff will of course take large credit for that, but fundamentally this team has got some core principles.

“Every single player, whether you’re a sub coming on or a starter, they all have a real understanding of what is needed to defend and be a unit. It’s proving very difficult for opposition.”
