Defender discusses test against the Hammers

The Clarets are back in action on Saturday afternoon in what defender Bashir Humphreys has described as a 'massive game' against West Ham United.

Ahead of the clash the 22-year-old sat down to reflect on moving forward from a disappointing performance in Sunderland and talked 'putting everything out there' against the Hammers.

REFLECTIONS ON SUNDERLAND

“I think that the feeling looking back is quite similar to the feeling on the day. Obviously, a lot of disappointment and reflecting on it, we know that we should have played way better, we should have performed way better, and we didn't carry out what we needed to do.

“It's a feeling of disappointment in that performance, but now it's sort of a feeling of you've got to move on, and you've got to look forward. So, put that in the rear view mirror and go on to the next one.”

GOING OUT THERE AND HAVING NO REGRETS

“It's been about being super present in the moment, not looking to the past because there's been games where we feel like we should have won. There's been games where we feel like we should have performed better. Not looking to the future, at the what-ifs. It's about being present and attacking this next game with all the intent that we have. Doing it as a group, like a brotherhood, and putting everything out there and having no regrets, really.”

A MASSIVE GAME AGAINST THE HAMMERS

“Every game is a challenge in this league, so I expect a big challenge. I'm not going to try and beat around the bush, we're in a relegation battle with them, so it's going to be a massive game for both of us. I think that they are going to come knowing that. They're going to know that we're going to put everything out there, so they're going to want to do the same.”

LEARNING EVERY GAME

“Every single game here is a learning experience, and I'm playing against so many different types of players.

“I've played in many different positions since I came to Burnley. I'm playing against so many different profiles, different teams. It's incredible for me. It's like, work experience, but I'm always working, I'm always getting experience, and it won't stop. I’m twenty-two it won’t stop until I’m thirty-two, I'm still going to be learning and getting those new experiences.

“Right now, I'm just loving it. I'm cherishing every single part of it. I worked a long time, I always had dreams of being here, so regardless of the situation we're in, I'm still proud, and I feel blessed to be where I am.”

GIVING THANKS TO THE FANS

“I've can only give them credit to be honest. I’ve started the last five games and every single game when I've been at home, I've felt their support and we’ve not won one of them. I’ve got to give them credit. I've got to give them thanks for that.

“The atmosphere at Turf Moor has been incredible. I've loved it. Like I said, I've been cherishing it because although we haven't got the results, that feeling, that energy from the crowd, sometimes I'm taking throw-ins, sometimes I'm on the sideline making tackles, I hear a few shouts, and I think they've been incredible, so I can't fault them at all. I've got gratitude for them. Hopefully, they can bring that same energy on Saturday.”
