Jay Rodriguez speaks after another special night under the Turf Moor lights in Wednesday’s 3-2 victory over Everton and discusses his crucial equaliser

Rodriguez on the night:

“It was [an unbelievable win] with the atmosphere. The game itself, obviously emotions were up and down, but the last feeling was one for us to keep and to push us forward.

“I thought that it was a difficult game. The fans were with us throughout and we know how special it is here, so it’s pushed us through.”

Rodriguez on the Clarets support:

“The night had that feeling where you can feel that [something] is coming. When we got back to 2-2, a few of the lads were saying ‘keep going, we’ll get it’, and we could feel the momentum around the ground.

“The noise and the atmosphere as well, so to get that goal and win it, it was a special night again at Turf Moor.

“We went 1-0 up and the noise was electric. Even when we had two disappointing goals against us, they [the fans] were still behind us and that’s important for us lads. We appreciate that and I’m just glad we got the win for them.”

Rodriguez on Charlie Taylor’s role in his goal:

“He’s brilliant. We know the qualities of Charlie, he’s such an athlete, great with the ball and a great left foot on him.

“As soon as he gets into those positions, he’s always looking to pick you out and thankfully, he did.”

Rodriguez on his leveller:

“I’ve missed worse! I always just think about getting that connection [on the ball]. You miss them, you score them, but I always think you’ve got to be there to do that and thankfully it got us back into the game.”

Rodriguez on Maxwel Cornet’s late winner:

“It was amazing, I felt that we deserved it as well. We kept to what we know, played a bit more football and worked hard like we always do.

“I’m really pleased for Maxi, since he’s come in he’s been a great lad and a great talent, so for him to get that goal was really special. It will kick us on for the next game.”

Rodriguez on a Sunday trip to Norwich City:

“We have to recover straight away. We want to keep that momentum from the second half going into Norwich.

“We know that they’ve got a great manager and some great players at that club, so it’s going to be difficult going down there to get a result, but we’ve given ourselves a good chance to perform.

“Hopefully we can go and get another three points.”
