Connor Roberts described the potential of making his 400th career appearance on Saturday as an 'incredible achievement' with the Wales international set to reach the significant milestone in the East Lancashire derby.

The right-back, who joined the Clarets in the summer of 2021, recently reached his 100th appearance for Burnley in November and the 29-year-old is proud of his career, which has also seen him play for Swansea City, Yeovil Town, Bristol Rovers, Middlesbrough, Leeds United and his country Wales.

Speaking to Clarets+ ahead of this weekend's visit to Blackburn, Roberts discussed the upcoming milestone: "It would be an incredible achievement for myself to be honest.

"It's something that I never thought I would get anywhere near here. I've played in the Premier League, played in the Championship numerous times for some big clubs and I've played for my country.

"I've achieved way more than I ever thought I would. To say I have scored in the Euros for Wales, played in the World Cup, scored in the Premier League, it's something that I'll always be proud of.

"Like I said, when I was a young boy, I just wanted to play one game for Swansea and I played more than 150 and now I'm sat here on 400 games, it's mental really. Hopefully there's still a few more to go and it's a big game on Saturday that I'm looking forward to."

The Clarets head to Ewood Park on Saturday afternoon after winning the previous four visits at Blackburn and Roberts says the team head down the M65 with real confidence.

"I've won the league at Ewood, not many people can say that. We're going there with real confidence, second in the table, a strong defensive record and all we can do is go there to try get the best result for the team, the club and most importantly, the fans.

"It will be a good game, they will be right up for it as well as us and at the end of the day it's a football game, that means a lot to a lot of people, what happens will happen."

Roberts added: "They have had some really good results this season against some good teams, it will be a tough game, but I'm sure they will be thinking the same about us too.

"We have players who can do special things on their day and in a derby match you need players like that, it's going to be fun and hopefully we come out on the right side of it."
