Millie Ravening has already hit 20 goals for the season, and is hungry for more with Burnley FC Women taking on Nottingham Forest in the last eight of the FA Women’s National League Cup on Sunday (22nd January).
Ravening joined the Claret Women in the summer of 2021, and last season was a key player in the side which won the Lancashire FA Women’s Challenge Cup, netting in the final of that competition against AFC Fylde.
Ahead of Sunday’s game – which takes place at Forest’s Halbrooke Stadium with a 2pm kick-off – she sat down with the Club’s media, describing the test posed by Andy Cook’s side.

Ravening said: “It’s a big game, it always is when it’s in a cup, but we’ve faced Forest before already this season in the league, so we know they’re a good side.
“They’re title contenders and we’ll just need to put a team performance in like we always do. We’ll give it our all, come together and I know that all the girls are just looking forward to it now. We’re focused on going out there and getting the win.
“All the girls are very ambitious, and it would be nice for us to win more silverware, that’s what we all want.”
The midfielder has hit the back of the net at least once in all of the previous nine games she’s featured in, on the scoresheet in all bar two of the matches she’s been involved in so far this season.

Her goals have contributed to Jonathan Morgan’s side being unbeaten to date this term, and Ravening praised her teammates & the staff for their roles in her progression, adding: “I just take each game as it comes but I’m very happy to be scoring.
“I’m working hard to be in the right areas with the right timings and good techniques, a lot goes into it.
“My teammates around me provide good balls and create spaces for me to come into, and the staff drive high standards in training, helping us all to develop.
“Everyone in the team wants to win and we’re ultimately all trying to achieve the same goals. Everyone wants the same thing and that’s success.”

At 21, Ravening is the Vice-Captain of the Claret Women and – in the absence of goalkeeper Lauren Bracewell – has led the side out on a number of occasions already this season.
She said: “I’m very proud I’ve been chosen as Vice-Captain, and I think I’ve come a long way since I’ve been here at Burnley. I’m much more confident on the ball with the freedom to do what I need to do in order to put in good performances.
“I’m really enjoying my football here and I’m hoping to keep that going. I think as a team we’ve come a long way, especially this season. We’re more aggressive and we’ll always find a way to bounce back from setbacks in games.”

Ravening also thanked the Club’s fans for their support this season and urged as many supporters as possible to go and watch the team with the vast majority of their home games free entry.
“Our fans are very special to us, it’s nice seeing them at games and seeing people take a genuine interest in women’s football.
“There are people there who want your autograph or have your name on the back of their shirt, and you don’t really expect it, but it’s really nice to see. We do all see it and we appreciate it.
“At our games, having you there drives us on and it makes us all want to win even more for the fans. We appreciate anyone coming, and it’s nice if we have a shot on target or score a goal, or even if a save is made at the other end, that you can hear people clapping.”

Albeit away from home, entry is free at the Halbrooke Stadium (NG16 3HB) on Sunday.
Burnley are then back at the Lancashire FA County Ground in Leyland for the visit of Cardiff City Ladies in the Fourth Round of the Vitality Women’s FA Cup (2pm KO).
Due to competition rules, entry at that game will cost £3 for adults with concessions free of charge.
