Burnley travel to London to face Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, after taking ten points from the last 15.
The Clarets currently sit in 17th place out of the bottom three on goal difference and have got a game in hand on Leeds United who are 18th.
Interim manager Mike Jackson won the Manager of the Month award for April. He stressed it’s a recognition of team effort.
"It’s pleasing but it’s humbling when you think of the managers that were in the running for it. It’s been a massive group effort from everyone involved and it shows that we’ve worked really hard and we’ve got to continue to do that. That’s the full focus.”
The home defeat to Aston Villa was a reminder of how tough the Premier League can be.
Jackson looks ahead to midweek clash
“When you don’t get the performance, you want. You can either go two ways. Forget it and move on but we didn’t do that. We can we do better from it. What can we learn from it? And we’ve spoken about it and the areas we need to be better in.”
Spurs won the north London derby against Arsenal on Thursday and Jackson knows they are a dangerous side.
“We know it’s going to be a tough game. Just like every away game and every home game. We know what Spurs do.
"Everyone in here will know their strengths, what they are good at. You need to have a plan and a belief how you can go and affect them.”
Form
Burnley have won away at Brighton and Watford this season. The Clarets are unbeaten away from home under Jackson.
Spurs are chasing the last Champions League place. The beat Arsenal 3-0 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Thursday. Harry Kane has now scored 41 goals in London derbies. Only Thierry Henry (43) has more.
The Clarets won the reverse fixture at Turf Moor in February with Ben Mee getting the only goal. Antonio Conte’s side had just won at the Etihad.
Opposition guide
Spurs last finished in the top four in 2019 when they also reached the Champions League final. They are a point behind fierce rivals Arsenal with two games left.
Antonio Conte replaced former Wolves boss Nuno Espírito Santo in the Tottenham hot seat. He won the Premier League title with Chelsea in 2016/17.
“On Sunday, we have to win,” Conte said. “I ask to our fans to recreate [the derby] atmosphere because it was amazing. The fans scored one goal. We scored two and one for our fans. It’ll be important on Sunday to stay together and create again this atmosphere, because it won’t be easy. It’ll be a sporting war.
Burnley beat Spurs 1-0 at Turf Moor in February. The result has proven to be a turning point for the Londoners with Spurs winning eight of their 12 league games since. Conte wasn’t pleased with the performance.
“It made me very, very angry,” Conte said. “I think it was a good step for my players, for the club, to understand what I wanted.
“There are moments that if you want to change the situation, sometimes you have to go strong. I understand very well that I took a risk, because a lot of people didn’t understand [my comments]. I read that it only took two months for Tottenham to make Conte crazy!”
