Burnley host Middlesbrough at Turf Moor on Saturday afternoon (17th December, 3pm KO) in what will be a first home game for over a month, with the Sky Bet Championship having taken a four-week break during the World Cup.
The action resumed last weekend with Vincent Kompany’s side earning three points on the road in the capital, beating Queens Park Rangers 3-0 at Loftus Road.
Johann Berg Gudmundsson struck home an inch-perfect free-kick before Ian Maatsen’s goal in time added on at the end of the first half doubled the Clarets advantage going into the interval. And midway through the second half, Nathan Tella’s 7th goal of the season put the seal on a super Sunday.
Burnley remain top of the table heading into this Saturday’s game which will see the halfway point of the campaign officially reached.

Middlesbrough
‘Boro were promoted alongside the Clarets in the 2015/16 campaign, but were then relegated from the Premier League the following season and have since not made it back.
The North East outfit made the Play-Offs in 2017/18, but weren’t successful in their quest for an immediate return to the top flight.
At the start of this season, they won just two of their first 11 league games before parting company with then boss Chris Wilder & appointing ex-Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick into his first-ever permanent senior management role.
Since, there has been an upturn in form and ‘Boro head to Turf Moor on the back of three consecutive wins in a run of five unbeaten. Last weekend, they beat Luton Town 2-1 at the Riverside Stadium with a 91st minute winner from Matt Crooks.
The Last Time we Met
This will be a first meeting between the two sides since that 2017/18 Premier League season.

In the game at Turf Moor that season, on Boxing Day, Andre Gray profited from a Victor Valdes error ten minutes from time to seal all three points.
Meanwhile, in the pair’s most recent meeting – which came up in the North East in April 2017 – it ended goalless.
