A circa 15-mile trip from Turf Moor to Ewood Park provides Burnley with a first East Lancashire derby away from home for over five years, Blackburn Rovers the opponents on Tuesday evening with an 8pm KO.
Vincent Kompany’s side head down the M65 knowing that three points would see them crowned champions, with derby day also providing the chance to bounce back from a first defeat on home soil this season.
Losing out 2-1 to Queens Park Rangers in BB10 on Saturday, with Manuel Benson the Clarets goal scorer, a 22-game unbeaten run in the league came to an end.
That was just a third league defeat all season for Burnley, who still sit 10 points clear at the Sky Bet Championship with three games remaining.

Blackburn Rovers
Like the Clarets, Burnley’s fiercest rivals appointed a new man to the helm in the summer of 2022 with Jon Dahl Tomasson taking the hotseat.
The Danishman has so far overseen a campaign which sees Rovers 8th with three left to play, outside the play-offs by virtue of goal difference.
Conceding late on to drop four points in their last two, Tomasson’s side could only take a point from a 1-1 draw at Preston North End over the weekend.
Former Bristol City man Sammie Szmodics netted in that encounter, scoring his fifth league goal of the campaign, at Deepdale before a Dominic Hyam own goal saw the points shared.
The last time we met
With the first over 130 years ago in 1888, the two clubs have faced off competitively 103 times previously, though with Burnley’s six-year spell in the Premier League, that tally hasn’t been added to all that often of late.
In the reverse fixture back in November, the Clarets signed off for the FIFA World Cup break in style with a thumping 3-0 victory. On a memorable afternoon, Ashley Barnes was at the double with Anass Zaroury also on target.
That victory extended Burnley’s unbeaten run in East Lancashire derbies to eight games in all competitions, last losing one in March 2010.
The Clarets have won their last three at Ewood Park including the last one in the Carabao Cup when Jack Cork & Robbie Brady were on target.
