It was a fairytale return for Jaydon Banel on Sunday, as the 21-year-old scored on his return to the Johan Cruijff ArenA in the pre-season friendly against Ajax.
Banel spent nearly 15 years with the Eredivisie side, before joining the Clarets last year and the winger was more than delighted to get his name on the scoresheet against the Amsterdam club.
Following the narrow defeat in the Netherlands, Banel reflected on the 'special moment', but full focus now turns to this week's double-header at Turf Moor with Espanyol and Torino.
MEMORABLE RETURN
"I was delighted to score and get a goal, I know it's just a friendly match, but I spent a lot of time at Ajax, so it was a special moment.
"The club means a lot to me, after spending many years there and it was also good to have a lot of my family and friends in the stands watching.
"I was really excited when I knew I would be playing in the game, I know it wasn't the result we wanted, but it was a good performance against strong opposition."
UPCOMING TURF TESTS
"It's good for us to be playing these sort of games, teams that like having the ball with dangerous players and good qualities.
"Espanyol are a La Liga team and Torino are a Serie A team, so they will both be good opponents for us.
"It's important to test ourselves each game and build that momentum towards the cup match next week."
