Burnley continued their pre-season schedule with a win over Huddersfield Town on Saturday afternoon, as goals from Tommy McDermott and Joe Westley saw the Clarets claim victory at the Acuu Stadium.

Scott Parker's side was split in two for this weekend, with the other half of the squad taking on Shrewsbury Town at the same time in Shropshire, where it finished 2-2.

In Huddersfield, the two teams went into the break goalless, after Burnley came close to taking the lead through Josh Laurent's effort and Jaidon Anthony's chance.

With the game approaching the final 20 minutes, Parker then introduced a handful of academy players, with McDermott heading home the opener with his first touch to give the visitors the lead.

McDermott could have had a second shortly after with a stinging strike from 25-yards out, before Westley then steered in a second from close range, after latching onto Tom Tweedy's close range pass.

It was another successful afternoon for Parker's men, with plenty of valuable minutes in the legs for the team and experience for academy youngsters featuring in the second-half.
