Burnley lost out 2-0 to Premier League holders and chasers Manchester City at Turf Moor on Saturday afternoon (April 2).
First half goals from Kevin De Bruyne and Ilkay Gundogan saw Pep Guardiola’s side earn the three Premier League points.
Clarets boss Sean Dyche made two changes to the side that were defeated at Brentford prior to the international break.
Kevin Long slotted into the back four with Nathan Collins suspended while Jack Cork came into midfield as Maxwel Cornet dropped to the bench on his return from international duty with the Ivory Coast.
Meanwhile, Spaniard Guardiola amended three names on the City teamsheet from their FA Cup win at Southampton last time out.
Brazilian Ederson returned in net to replace Zack Steffen while Nathan Ake and Phil Foden were also back involved from the off. John Stones and Gabriel Jesus both started on the bench.

First Half
Starting quickly, Burnley had the first glimpse of goal on 3 minutes with Josh Brownhill sending a looping header wide of the mark from the edge of the box having met Aaron Lennon’s cross.
Two minutes later though, the Citizens – who currently top the Premier League in search of a sixth title in 10 seasons – took the lead through midfielder Kevin De Bruyne. The Belgian volleyed home in the box from Raheem Sterling’s knock down.
Fresh from his England international duty, Clarets ‘keeper Nick Pope then reacted well to keep out Rodri’s curling effort, with Turf Moor standing to applaud the late great Andy Lochhead in the 9th minute who passed away last month.
On 25 minutes, Guardiola’s side doubled their advantage through captain Ilkay Gundogan, volleying home from Sterling’s low cross.

And before the half was out, Sterling passed up an opportunity to make it three with a mishit shot having been played in over the top by Foden.
At the interval, Dyche introduced winger Cornet in place of McNeil searching for a route back into the contest.
Second Half
Pope had to spring into action twice in the space of 60 seconds early on in the second half, first keeping out Joao Cancelo’s low cross which deflected off James Tarkowski before then saving Gundogan’s rifled effort towards goal.
On 59 minutes, the Clarets came close to halving the deficit with Wout Weghorst and Cornet linking up from a long free kick, though City defender Ake cleared the latter’s header off the line proceeded by the offside flag going up.
Guardiola introduced striker Jesus from the bench who almost added a third for the visitors but couldn’t convert Sterling’s cross on the stretch while Jay Rodriguez also came on for the Clarets and stung Ederson’s palms with a shot from the edge of the area.

Another Citizens substitute in Bernardo Silva then set up Cancelo in space from just yards out, but the wing back struck the post with an initial effort before firing wide on the rebound.
Ashley Barnes also made an appearance for Burnley and almost saw Cornet connect with a cross across the box late on, though again the offside flag would’ve denied the Clarets anyway.
Sean Dyche’s side next return to Premier League action at Turf Moor on Wednesday night – April 6 – as they welcome Everton.
