The Clarets continued their Championship winning momentum on Saturday, with a 1-0 victory against Luton Town.

An Ashley Barnes penalty secured the three points on the day in what was a challenging fixture against the inform opposition.

Praising the team's commitment, the striker believes his teammates dug in to grind out the win over the course of the 90+ minutes.

“It was a very difficult game. It wasn’t the cleanest but we knew it wasn’t going to be. We know how tough they are, we knew the ball was coming in the box a lot of times and diags were going to be played quite a lot.

“This one we had to grind out and look, we’ve done that today, and luckily enough we’ve got the win.”

When asked whether the team had to show a different side to their game in the close encounter with physical opposition, Barnes added: “Yeah, I think that just shows we’ve got everything you know. Enough games this season where we’ve come from behind or we’ve had to score late on, this was a just a different game in total today. It was going to be physical, we had to graft hard and lucky enough we did that. It wasn’t the best of pitches, so the ball was bobbling everywhere, everyone was fumbling off their feet and whatnot, and loosing the ball too much - but look we got the main thing and that was the win, and we go home happy.”

Burnley were awarded a penalty in the 75th minute, which the number 10 converted from the spot, maintaining his 100% record for the Clarets, having scored all nine he's taken.

Describing his mindset when he stepped up, he said: “I’m just thinking to stay calm. I’ve picked my spot already, before I put the ball down and lucky enough it’s gone in the back of the net.

“It was incredible, obviously it’s always nice to hit the back of the net. I would have liked to hit the back a lot more this season but it’s one of those things. As long as I can contribute, as long as the team are winning, that’s more important than me scoring goals.”

The Lancashire side took the points today but it's a busy turnaround for the side, with a trip for Millwall scheduled for three days time.

“I think this game’s gone now, we’ll get on the bus and it’s all about the recovery. Tomorrow we’ll get back, we’ll watch some clips and stuff and we go again ready for Tuesday.”
