Manager Vincent Kompany applauded his side's efforts against Luton Town on Saturday, as the Clarets edged out a 1-0 victory at Kenilworth Road.
In an end-to-end physical encounter in Luton, Burnley fought to come away with all three points against a Hatters side who were unbeaten in their previous five Sky Bet Championship matches.
Following the game in Bedfordshire, Kompany was pleased with the way his team dealt with the hosts' threat and the joy he takes in these 'type of wins'.
The Clarets chief said: “It’s a huge win. We knew it wasn’t going t be easy and it’s exactly what we expected this afternoon.
“I’m really happy and proud of the lads. It was a different challenge today and once again they rose to the task.
“We enjoyed it, it was difficult but we remain Burnley and these types of games are still part of the things we take care of.
“I think it was a case for us to not come into this game naïve or thinking it was all going to go our way.
“We fought really hard and in the second half started to create more chances and opportunities and the first half was very much about staying in the game.
“Luton are very good at what they do, it’s a difficult place to come it’s loud and passionate but we enjoyed it today."
Kompany added: “We were fighting for the second balls, defended our box well, we were physical too and we are still Burnley. If we have to go long balls, fighting for it then so be it, I like that side of it.
“I get a lot of joy from a game like this, it might surprise a few it was a bit different from the performance against Preston but it’s exactly the way we needed to play it."
Ashley Barnes 78th minute penalty proved to be the winning goal in a tight affair and Kompany had plenty of praise for the striker's performance at Kenilworth Road.
“It was impeccable. I think his performance was extremely Important for us today.
“It was a great finish from Barnesy and I’m pleased for him, it just topped off a great performance from him today for us.” Said Kompany.
