Gaffer reflects on last-gasp defeat to Bees ...

Scott Parker was proud in defeat, as Burnley lost a topsy-turvy Premier League encounter 4-3 to Brentford at Turf Moor on Saturday.

The Clarets fought back from 3-0 down to draw level on the hour mark, only to suffer late heartache at the hands of Mikkel Damsgaard's 93rd minute winner, as well as having two efforts ruled out by VAR at the end of a pulsating afternoon in BB10.

Here's what the gaffer had to say at the full-time whistle ...

SOFT FIRST HALF SHOWING

"We can be critical of the first half, of course we can. We gave ourselves a mountain to climb.

"We looked soft in the first half - we lost duels and we were second best for large parts in a difficult environment.

"I could see the hurt in the players eyes at half time with what they went through in the first half.

"But our reaction in the second half - the fight and the spirit - was incredible."

PROUD IN DEFEAT

"We were incredible in the second half.

"We changed things tactically and it worked - but were cruelly denied on a couple of occasions and we didn’t get what we deserved from the game.

"It takes a certain type of player to come out and show the spirit and stand up to the challenge and the atmosphere that we had in front of us at half time.

"I’m proud of this team - and I’m probably more sad than frustrated that the players weren't rewarded for their efforts in the end."

FINEST OF MARGINS

"The two VAR decisions were heartbreaking for us.

"The way football is these days, everyone seems to want perfection and those finest of margin decisions, not for the first time, went against us today.

"The offside is as minimal as it gets and then a handball right at the end ... that’s the way the game is now, everyone wants perfection.

"It’s not the first time this season we’ve suffered at the hands of the technology in the game."

THE FIGHT GOES ON

"Today is a blow for us, a really tough result to take.

"but we’ve got to keep going. We won’t give up. We’ll keep fighting.
