Zian Flemming found it difficult to sum up his emotions following a seven-goal thriller against Brentford at Turf Moor.

In a game that saw Scott Parker's side comeback from 3-0 down, in a cruel twist, a late Brentford winner meant it was the Bees who left with the three Premier League points on the day.

SURREAL 90 MINUTES

“It's very hard to analyse today. It's definitely one of the maddest of games I've played and maybe for the fans one of the maddest they’ve seen as well over the years.

“It’s a bit surreal to be here empty handed after everything that has happened, and it’ll take time to process that.”

SPIRITED SECOND HALF SHOWING

“If you are where we are, which is second from bottom, and you go three-nil down at half-time, I think 99 out of 100 times you should be dead and buried. Somehow, we are not and that is something that makes me very, very proud.

“Obviously, at the same time I can’t shy away from the fact that we should never be three-nil down in the first place because then you have to do all this work to get back into the game. But if we want to try and focus on the positives, it’s a very unique and special performance after going 3-0 down. What we’ve done as a team and as individuals, as a whole group, is very special. Even though we are empty handed, where we maybe deserved to win."

HALF-TIME MESSAGE

“Firstly, there was some tactical detail to try and improve things. But the main message was that it’s unacceptable. That was the weird thing, we weren’t rubbish for the whole of the first half, but we were rubbish in a few particular moments and that’s just going to cost you in this league. That’s just not good enough, we can’t concede from a corner that easily. It’s three goals, corner kick, long throw, one second ball and they’re in. I don’t want to make it look like defending corners and second balls is easy, it’s not, especially against this team because that’s one of their main strengths. But still, we should deal with those situations better as a whole – not pointing to anyone, as a team we should not let that happen. That was the main message, that we needed something extra. You can’t get bullied really.”

WORKING TOGETHER WITH THE CROWD

“It was a mad contrast as obviously in the first half we’re going inside with expected boos. I understand that they were really disappointed.

“Then it’s up to us to show a reaction and I think we did that. We gave them something to cheer for. In the second half you see when you work together as a crowd and as a team, that you can create something a little bit special. You can create a momentum, and you can see the other team shrink a little under pressure and we’re getting stronger and stronger.

“The second half that was a great interaction between fans and players and you can see what that results in.”
