Head Coach Scott Parker admitted although he was impressed by an 'incredible' first-half showing, the Burnley boss said his only criticism from the day was that the scoreline wasn't bigger than just the one goal, following a dominating and controlled performance.

The Clarets took the lead through Zian Flemming's stunning free-kick and despite creating numerous chances throughout the 90 minutes, the hosts just couldn't squeeze in another.

Speaking post-match at Turf Moor, Parker said: “We were incredible for 45 minutes. We played very, very well, we should have probably gone in more than one up. That's probably my only criticism really, that we only go in 1-0 up.

“Second-half as well, I thought we had moments, but the longer the game goes on, as always at 1-0 it's always an edgy scoreline, because they've got nothing to lose.

“Overall though, I’m very pleased with the team for 45 minutes. It was exceptional and don't forget this is a team that have come here today, I think that are second or third in-form team in the division.

“Only two weeks ago, they went to Sheffield United and on the run of it, what I've watched for prepping for this game, they should have come out and won the game.

“I knew it was going to be a tough game, but I was very pleased with generally how we went about it.”

On another afternoon Jaidon Anthony could have had a hat-trick, whilst Josh Brownhill, Connor Roberts and Josh Laurent all came close to adding to the scoreline.

On the amount of chances created, Parker explained: “While I always go into games and the prep we do and where we are as a group, I expect us to put a dominant performance in, I didn't anticipate the game to look like it did in the first half to be quite honest with you.

“The amount of chances we created and how well we played, I think me being honest, I thought it would be a bit more of an even game, certainly early on, but that wasn't the case.

“That was down to us and our quality and what we produced. Certainly the wide boys and just our general structure was perfect."

The winning goal turned out to be an excellent set-piece from Flemming and Parker had high praise for his forward: "I thought he'd done well and you're exactly right.

"I mean, anyone looking at the run of the game in the first half, if you were to say that we were going to score a goal from one individual bit of quality, you'd probably go, not really, because we carved them open numerous times.

"But Zian steps up, set play, puts it in there and gives us a good start."
