Zian Flemming's 16th minute free-kick proved to be the difference for the Clarets in a dominant display, as Burnley ran out 1-0 winners against Bristol City at Turf Moor.

Flemming opened the scoring with a superb set-piece from 30-yards out in the first-half and the hosts had a number of chances through Jaidon Anthony, Connor Roberts and Josh Brownhill to add to the scoreline, but it ended with just the one goal.

The win saw Burney extend their Sky Bet Championship unbeaten run to 26 matches and remain the only side in the league undefeated at home this campaign.

Head Coach Scott Parker named an unchanged side from the team that beat Swansea City before the international break.

After sustaining an early spell of brief pressure from the visitors, the Clarets bagged the opening goal with 16 minutes on the clock in sublime fashion.

Marcus Edwards was hacked down and awarded a free-kick outside the area, with Flemming stepping-up from 30-yards out to pick out the top corner with an excellent set-piece that Max O’Leary could get nowhere near.

The Clarets came close to a second goal five minutes later when the ball fell kindly to Jaidon Anthony inside the box, but the winger could only fire straight at O’Leary in the City goal.

Burnley were dominating and it looked like that second goal was coming, as Flemming rose highest from Connor Roberts’ cross, however the Dutchman’s header was planted wide of the target.

Parker’s side, who were well in control of the opening stages, came inches close once again on the half-hour mark, as Anthony guided Flemming’s cross narrowly wide of the bottom corner, before Roberts then saw his curled effort from the edge of the box sail just wide of the post.

Despite a dominant and one-sided first-half in Lancashire, the Clarets went into the break with just the one goal lead.

The home side started the second half where they left off from the first and the Robins’ defence looked to be disjointed, as Josh Laurent saw a lobbed effort lift over the bar, after latching onto Mark Sykes’ pass back.

With the hosts knocking on the door once again, as Josh Brownhill saw his drilled strike blocked on the line, Parker turned to the bench and made his first change of the game with Flemming making way for Lyle Foster.

Anthony, who on another day could have had a hat-trick, then saw his close-range effort blocked wide for another Burnley corner.

Despite the Clarets pushing for a second goal, referee Andrew Kitchen blew the full-time whistle, which saw Burnley claim all three points and continue their unbeaten run.
