Clarets boss Scott Parker admitted he was 'pleased' with the afternoon at Huddersfield, as his team came out on top and gained more useful minutes in their legs.

Second-half goals from Tommy McDermott and Joe Westley gave Burnley the win in Yorkshire and Parker was left feeling more than satisfied following the full-time whistle.

Speaking to Clarets+ at the Accu Stadium, Parker said: "Overall, really good. We're halfway through pre-season and it's about getting minutes into the legs of the players.

"I thought we showed some really good bits. I thought the young boys were exceptional who came on in the second-half.

"Very pleasing afternoon overall for us, no injuries, plenty of minutes into the players and a couple of goals to top it off."

There were 20 minutes handed to a handful of academy players, with two U18s involved and the two goalscorer's coming through the academy system at Burnley.

Parker added: "I was once their age and it's a big experience for them, they did extremely well, brought energy to the game.

"Tommy pops up with a goal which was nice for him, then Joe gets one near the end, so a nice afternoon for them."

The Clarets played two friendlies across the afternoon, with the other half of the squad taking on Shrewsbury and Parker explained the process behind it.
