The points were shared at Turf Moor on Saturday afternoon, as Burnley played out a goalless draw against AFC Bournemouth.

Scott Parker's side pushed the visitors all the way at Turf Moor, arguably creating the better opportunities across the 90 minutes, but ultimately they were unable to break the deadlock.

Jaidon Anthony, playing against his former club, went closest, thrashing a close-range shot off the bar in the first half, as Parker's side responded to their disappointing display at Everton ten days ago with an improved showing against Andoni Iraola's side.

The Clarets started on the front foot, carving open an early chance inside just two minutes, when Anthony broke down the left, before cutting inside and seeing his low effort fizz wide of the target.

Straight up the other end, Bournemouth unlocked an opportunity of their own - striker Evanilson weaved into the area and rounded the onrushing Martin Dúbravka, only to see his strike blocked excellently on the line by Bashir Humphreys.

After a frantic start under the Lancashire sun, the game settled down, with the next chance arriving midway through the first-half, as James Tavernier’s stinging drive was held comfortably by Dúbravka.

Burnley then responded with a chance of their own and it was Anthony again, this time his curling effort towards the far corner was tipped wide by Djordje Petrovic.

The Clarets went close again soon after, but Humphreys’ goal-bound effort from close-range following a corner was well blocked.

The home side were controlling the game and their best chance of the half arrived on the stroke of half-time, when James Ward-Prowse picked out Anthony at the back-post with a perfectly-flighted corner, but the winger’s fierce close-range effort came rattling back off the crossbar.

Bournemouth started the second-half brightly and came close to breaking the deadlock 10 minutes in, when Tavernier's effort from the edge of the box struck the outside of the post and flew wide, while at the other end, Anthony then had yet another opportunity, but saw his strike blocked.

Burnley were doing their all to grab the opener and carved open another effort, but Zian Flemming could only crash his header over the bar.

With the game still goalless, Parker turned to his bench, with Marcus Edwards introduced, before a flurry of further changes, but it just wasn't to be, with the game ending goalless.
