Clarets take on the Rams in midweek clash

Burnley are back at Turf Moor on Tuesday night (7:45pm) as Scott Parker's side host Derby County in the Sky Bet Championship.

The Clarets head into Tuesday night six games unbeaten in the league and will be aiming to continue their undefeated home record this season.

Parker's side currently sit 3rd in the Championship table and victory against the Rams would see the Clarets move back into the automatic promotion places.

Derby head to Lancashire in 16th place and the visitors are winless in their previous five fixtures, losing their last three matches, most recently a 2-0 defeat at Leeds United last weekend.

How to watch

The opposition

Two-time winners of England's top-flight in 1972 and 1975, Derby are yet to return to the first tier of English Football, since their relegation in 2008.

However, across their history the Rams have only spent a total of six seasons outside the top two leagues, with two of those campaigns coming in the last two years.

After returning to the Championship in 2008, County went on to spend 14 consecutive seasons in the second tier, before dropping to League One in 2021/22, for the first time since 2003.

Derby failed to bounce back at the first attempt after missing out on the play-offs, but the Rams secured promotion back to the Championship last year at the second time of asking with a 2nd place finish.

Following their return to the second tier, County started the 2024/25 season brightly and won three of their opening five league games, but a run of just two wins in the last 14 games sees Paul Warne's side 16th in the league table.

In the dugout

Paul Warne's first role in coaching came in November 2016, when the former Millers man was appointed caretaker boss of Rotherham United following Kenny Jackett's departure.

In January 2017, Warne was then given the role until end of the 2016/17 campaign and despite Rotherham's relegation from the Championship, he was appointed permanently in the summer.

During his time in charge of the Yorkshire club, United were promoted to the Championship and relegated from it on three occasions, with promotions in 2018, 2020 and 2022 and relegations in 2017, 2019 and 2021.

Warne's final game in charge was at the beginning of the 2022/23 campaign, before leaving the New York Stadium to join League One Derby County.

After narrowly missing out on the play-offs in his first season at Pride Park, Warne achieved promotion at the second time of asking last season.

The Rams finished 2nd in League One on 92 points and returned to the Championship automatically alongside Portsmouth, with Oxford United joining them via the play-offs.

Following his arrival at County over two years ago, Warne recently became the longest serving manager in the Sky Bet Championship, after Mark Robins' departure from Coventry City.
