Centre-back Georgia Marshall believes Sunday’s meeting with Wolverhampton Wanderers at Turf Moor will be a demanding day for the Clarets backline.
Citing the power and quality of the Wolves forwards, the defender knows the team will have to be on their game to secure the three points on home turf.
“I'm really looking forward to the game,” she said.
"They're a well-drilled team and always give us a tough match.
“Wolves always bring physicality and pose challenging one v ones all over the pitch.
"They have speed, power, and quality in their forward line, so it will be a demanding day for our defence.”
Burnley have started the season well with three wins in three in the league, with Marshall happy to see consistency in the squad's performances.
“The start of the season has been fun for me. In two of the games we've managed to keep a clean sheet, and I'm immensely proud of that. There is, however, a lot of competition for places, so the hard work continues.
“It's really satisfying to see how strong we are at both ends of the pitch now, which is something we may have lacked last season. Consistency in both boxes is something we strive for, so it's nice to see our time and dedication paying off.”
Marshall played in the two women’s games that were held at Turf Moor last season and she can’t wait to get back out there on Sunday.
“Playing at Turf last season was a personal highlight for me. Being able to play in front of our friends, family, and fans meant a lot.
“The atmosphere and the pitch make every game at the stadium super special. There’s no place to hide, and the quality of the pitch lends to our style of play.
“Another three points would help us maintain our current momentum and boost our confidence as we head into a challenging run of fixtures over the next few weeks.”
