Burnley Head Coach Scott Parker officially opened Burnley College’s new 3G astro pitch on Thursday afternoon, as the Club’s partnership with the College continues to strengthen.
Parker visited the College, alongside the Club’s President of Business Operations Stuart Hunt and Director of Fan Experience Russell Ball, where the group were shown around the facilities and spent time speaking with students & staff, with Parker cutting the ribbon on the new sports pitch.
The Club have a strong partnership with the College, which sees Burnley host a ‘College Clarets’ fixture once a season at Turf Moor, students taking the role of the ball assistants for the first team home games and the Women’s team utilising the College’s gym & leisure facilities.
After Parker officially unveiled the new 3G pitch, Russell Ball discussed the growing partnership between the Club and College, and what the special visit from the Head Coach meant to the students and staff.
“We’re at Burnley College because Scott (Parker) has come to cut the ribbon on the new 3G pitch, that has been officially unveiled today.
“These are fantastic world class facilities down here. We have such a great partnership with the guys here at the College.
“All of our ball assistants on matchday come from here, but beyond that the Women’s team also use the facilities, as well as the training ground.
“It’s hugely special for the manager to be here, it’s very evident that Scott (Parker) wants to play a part in the community and recognise the hard work that goes on and you can see that today.
“It’s been a really great day to reinforce what is already a great partnership between Burnley College and Burnley Football Club.”
