An in-depth look at the Clarets away on international duty and their upcoming fixtures over the March break

Nine of Scott Parker’s men are set to play for their native countries over the next few days around the globe.

Wednesday night will see Hannibal and Tunisia kick off the March international break, before both Josh Cullen with Ireland and Manuel Benson representing Angola will play their first respective fixtures on Thursday evening.

Lyle Foster, Oliver Sonne, Luca Koleosho, CJ Egan-Riley and James Trafford are all then in action on Friday night, with Connor Roberts and Wales concluding the first round of fixtures on Saturday.

Wednesday

Hannibal (Tunisia) v Liberia 4:00pm (A)

Tunisia continue their 2026 World Cup Qualifying campaign on Wednesday night, as Hannibal and his teammates take on Liberia.

Currently sat at the top of Group H on 10 points from their first four qualifiers, Tunisia will be looking to continue their unbeaten run in their upcoming qualifiers against Liberia and Malawi this month.

Thursday

Manuel Benson (Angola) v Libya 7:00pm (A)

After receiving his first Angola call-up last summer, Manuel Benson will be looking to add to his two caps as the winger returns to the squad ahead of their 2026 World Cup Qualifier double-header.

Angola, who currently sit 4th in Group D, take on Libya in Benina, before hosting Cape Verde next week in their second fixture.

Josh Cullen (Ireland) v Bulgaria 7:45pm (H)

Cullen is set to reach 50 Ireland senior caps towards the end of this year, with the midfielder currently on 40.

An ever-present in the Ireland side, Cullen and his teammates take on Bulgaria in a crucial UEFA Nations League promotion/relegation two-legged clash over this international break.

The Boys in Green travel to Plovdiv for the first leg on Thursday evening, before hosting Bulgaria in Dublin on Sunday in the second leg.

Friday

Oliver Sonne (Peru) v Bolivia 1:30am (H)

Peru now face a challenging task to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, with the South American side currently bottom of their CONMEBOL Qualifying group and 10 points off a qualification spot.

Sonne and his side take on Bolivia late on Thursday night (early hours of Friday, UK time), before travelling to Venezuela on Tuesday night (early hours of Wednesday, UK time), where a win is required in at least four of their six remaining fixtures.

Lyle Foster (South Africa) v Lesotho 4:00pm (H)

South Africa continue their 2026 World Cup Qualifying campaign with a home tie against Lesotho, before travelling to Benin on Tuesday afternoon.

Bafana Bafana currently sit 2nd in a tight Group C, level on points with Rwanda in 1st and Benin in 3rd.

Foster will be looking to gain his 20th international cap for South Africa, with the striker currently on 18 before the March break.

Luca Koleosho (Italy U21s) v Netherlands 6:15pm (H)

Italy’s youngsters have two friendly fixtures scheduled for the March international break, taking on the Netherlands and France.

James Trafford (England) v Albania 7:45pm (H)

James Trafford has once again been included in the Three Lions’ senior set-up, as new boss Thomas Tuchel takes charge of his first two games this month.

England begin their World Cup Qualifying campaign this month, as the Three Lions host Albania on Friday night before entertaining Latvia on Monday.

CJ Egan-Riley (England U21s) v France U21s 8:00pm (A)

After representing England from U15 level, Egan-Riley’s impressive form this season has seen the defender received his first U21 call-up for the Three Lions.

Egan-Riley has been selected for the squad that will travel to France on Friday, before hosting Portugal on Monday.

Saturday

Connor Roberts (Wales) v Kazakhstan 7:45pm (H)

Roberts and Craig Bellamy’s Wales side begin their 2026 World Cup Qualifiers on Saturday night, with the Dragons taking on Kazakhstan first before travelling to North Macedonia.

After missing out on last summer’s Euros, Wales will be aiming to book their place in next year’s World Cup.
