Ian Maatsen, who spent the season on loan with the Sky Blues last season, put in an impressive performance on his return to Coventry, as the Clarets ran out 1-0 winners in the Midlands.
Post-match the full-back discussed the result, relief of a clean sheet and moving on to Swansea next weekend.
Maatsen on the win:
“I’m very happy to come here, obviously my old club where I’ve played before. We played well, we dominated the game. The gaffer said to us, play side to side, overload, it’s a big three points.”
Maatsen on the recent late equalisers:
“Of course, we want to win every game. Like the gaffer said we just have to manage the game when we are in the lead, stay composed and just let the ball do the work. We did that as a team, we did that really well like he asked us to do.”
Maatsen on facing his old side:
“It feels good to see the old faces who you worked with, it’s always nice to share that moment. It’s always special to come here and obviously it’s better that we got the win, and it was nice to see my old teammates again, so it was good.”
Maatsen on Swansea:
“I think we can take this team spirit into the next game; we have to celebrate this win of course and then this week we will just prepare and rest. We have more time to prepare for the next game, Swansea.”
Maatsen on life at Burnley:
“It’s amazing, the fans are amazing. Good staff, good teammates, it can’t be better than this situation so I’m happy.”
