Clarets manager Vincent Kompany visited Burnley FC sponsor Classic Football Shirts recently, to take a tour of their Manchester warehouse and meet founders Matthew Dale and Doug Bierton.
Classic Football Shirts and Burnley FC teamed up this season, with the company sponsoring the club's home and third shirt. Both designs have been well received, with the Clarets manager a fan of the retro inspired design. Celebrating the classic kit from the Clarets 1991/92 title winning season, Kompany met with Classic Football Shirts to talk retro shirts, his favourite designs and Burnley classics.

On the topic of his favourite football shirts growing up, Kompany said: "When I was young I had two shirts I can remember buying. One was an Ajax shirt and two was a Dortmund shirt. Ajax there was a reason, there was a link between Ajax and Anderlecht, it was a shirt you could wear with pride. Dortmund's was just an exciting kit, they were an exciting team at the time."
On his World Cup memories and shirts from the national team's history, he said: "1994, USA, it wasn't a great World Cup for Belgium but it was always a great event. I grew up in a neighbourhood that was maybe 90% people from Moroccan origins and that year Belgium was in the same group as Morocco so it was a game that really lifted.
"There was a generation before that 1986, where they actually reached the semi final of the World Cup, so you're kind of living with the hope that this was going to come back. It was pretty grim when I was younger, we didn't have a lot to celebrate, luckily things change and what Belgium is today, it's some way from what it was at the time of course."

The manager also spoke about the Burnley kit and settling into the club: “It's a brilliant atmosphere at Turf Moor. I love to see the kids wearing the shirts, that gives such a party atmosphere to the stadium.
"It's been great, it's a good place, good people. I don't think there's many places where the club is so embedded in the local community, people love the club. When you're in Burnley, it's all eyes on the club."
